Storage Methods For Planetary Gearboxes

Do not store the planetary reducer outdoors or in a humid environment.

Place a wooden board or other suitable material between the planetary reducer and the ground; the reducer must not come into direct contact with the floor.

For reducers stored for more than 60 days, all machined surfaces-such as flanges, shafts, and couplings-must be coated with a rust-preventive agent.

If the planetary reducer is to be stored for more than six months, the following special inspection and maintenance procedures must be performed:

All machined components should be coated with grease to prevent rust. Position the reducer so that the vent plug is at the top, and fill the unit with lubricating oil (note: this oil is not suitable for long-term operation). Before putting the reducer into service, drain this oil and refill the unit with the appropriate amount of fresh lubricant.

Proper storage is essential for preserving the original performance and service life of the planetary reducer. Conversely, improper storage will compromise its performance and significantly shorten its operational lifespan.
