The manufacturing process for lawnmower gearboxes typically proceeds in two separate streams: the gearbox housing and the gears themselves. The housing is predominantly formed using aluminum alloy die casting or high-strength cast iron molding. During the aluminum alloy die-casting process, molten metal is injected into a mold under high pressure; following formation, the housing undergoes deburring, aging treatment, and precision machining to ensure accurate dimensional tolerances and uniform structural strength, thereby establishing a reliable reference base for subsequent assembly. For gearboxes requiring superior wear resistance and load-bearing capacity, critical load-bearing surfaces may also undergo precision finishing via machining or CNC milling to enhance overall fitting accuracy and operational lifespan.

 

The manufacturing process for the gears is considerably more rigorous. Typically utilizing alloy steel, the gears are first formed into blanks through forging or rolling, followed by precision cutting and heat treatment. Heat treatment processes-such as carburizing and quenching-impart high surface hardness to the gears while preserving internal toughness, thereby satisfying the requirements for wear resistance and impact strength essential for long-term meshing. Upon completion of gear machining, the components undergo gear grinding, polishing, and precision inspection to ensure smooth transmission and low noise levels. During the assembly phase, the gears, bearings, and housing are fitted together with high precision; lubricants (grease or oil) are applied, and sealing measures are implemented to ensure the entire gearbox operates reliably over the long term, even within complex outdoor environments.
